Dua – Upon Hearing the athan (the call to prayer)

by I Need Allah

Dua No:1

Lâ hawla wa lâ quwwata illâ bi-l-lâhi.

“[One repeats just as the mu-athin (one who calls to prayer) says, except when he says: ‘come to prayer, come to success’. Instead, one should say: ‘There is no might nor power except with Allah.’].

Dua No:2

Wa anâ ash-hadu an lâ ilâha illâ l-lâhu, wahdahu lâ sharîka lâhu, wa anna Muhammadan cabduhu wa rasûluhu. Radîtu bi-l-lâhi rabban, wa bi-muhammadin rasûlan, wa bi-l-islâmi dînan.

“And I too bear witness that none has the right to be worshipped except Allah, alone, without a partner, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. I am pleased with Allah as a Lord, and Muhammad as a Messenger and Islam as a religion.”

Dua No:3

Allâhumma rabba hâdhihi d-dacwati t-âmmati, wa ssalâti-l-qâ’imati.Âti Muhammadan al wasîlata wa-l-fadîlata, wa bcath-hu maqâman mahmûdan al-ladhî wacadtahu. [Innaka lâ tukhlifu-l-mîcâd.]

“O Allah, Owner of this perfect call and Owner of this prayer to be performed, bestow upon Muhammad al-waseelah and al-fadeelah and send him upon a praised platform which You have promised him. Verily, You never fail in Your promise.”

Dua No:4

Allâhumma bacid baynî wa bayna khatâyâya kamâ bâcadta bayna-l-mashriqi wa-l-maghribi. Allâhumma naqqinî min khatâyâya kamâ yunaqqa th-thawbu-l-abyadu mina d-danasi. Allâhumma ghsilnî min khatâyâya bi th-thalji wa-l-mâ’i wa-l-barad.

“O Allah, distance me from my sins just as You have distanced The East from The West, O Allah, purify me of my sins as a white robe is purified of filth, O Allah, cleanse me of my sins with snow, water, and ice.”
