Taqwa: The path to Paradise

by I Need Allah

Taqwa: The path to Paradise has been discussed and instructed in many verses of the Holy Qur’an. The results of taqwa and the means of becoming God-fearing have been highlighted. That is why whenever the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) started his khutbah, he would recite the verses containing taqwa first. This shows the importance of taqwa in the life of a Muslim.

Meaning of Taqwa:

  • Ibn Rajab (may Allah be pleased with him) said, “Taqwa means avoiding the wrath and punishment of Allah through obedience and refraining from disobedience.”
  • Kushairi (may Allah be pleased with him:) said, “The true taqwa is to abstain from shirk, than to renounce unjust and obscene things, then to refrain from doubtful things, then to reject useless nonsense.”
  • Abdullah bin Masood (RA) said, “Taqwa is: obeying Allah – not disobeying, remembering Him – not forgetting, thanking Him – not disbelieving.”
  • Sahl bin Abdullah said, “Pure taqwa is to give up all kinds of sins, big and small.”
  • Yawbani said, “Taqwa is the name of avoiding all things that will keep you away from Allah (will bring His wrath).”
  • Hasan Basri said, “There is no taqwa in this type of (fur) torn dress. Taqwa is something that is embedded in the heart, And it is implemented through action. ”

Omar bin Abdul Aziz said: “Performing Shiaam during the day and performing Nafl Salat at night is not the fear of Allah; Rather, the fear of the true Allah is to forsake what Allah has forbidden and to live up to what He has made obligatory.

Taqwa is not the name of public denunciation of sin; Rather, the real taqwa is the name of renunciation of all kinds of secret and open sins. As the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, “ Fear Allaah wherever you are. ”[Tirmidhi]

Whether a person has taqwa is clear from three things:

a) To have complete trust in Allah in what has not been achieved yet.
B) expressing full satisfaction with what has been found and
c) full of what has not been found.

The real taqwa is- “Abandon sin, no matter how small or big; This is the real taqwa. Be careful, like the one who walks carefully on the thorny path. ”

Sin is small so do not despise him; Because huge mountains are formed by small pebbles.

Ways to be pious:

To Allah belong everything in heaven and earth. every fard and nafl prayer we offer is for Allah. Allaah says ( interpretation of the meaning): “ O mankind! Worship your Lord Who created you and those before you, that you may become righteous. [ Surat al-Baqara, 21 ]

Prophet(PBUH)  time, the implementation of the uncircumcised, for the attempt to spread it, just the way as he seeks nearness to Allah and worships Him. Not to introduce any innovation in his religion. And at the same time refrain from all kinds of wickedness. As Tablaq bin Habib said, ‘Taqwa is – you will do obedience to Allah in the way He guides and hope for Allah’s reward. You will renounce disobedience to God on the basis of His light and fear God’s punishment.
