The Prophet (PBUH) Love for children

The Prophet (PBUH) Love for children. The Prophet (PBUH) is the best role model for everyone, young and old.  People start to live by the Prophet (PBUH) path everywhere, starting from the personal lives of the people. He has come for the world as a teacher. With his love and beautiful character, he has given the invitation of religion to all, young and old, and taught them all the necessary things. He has reached the pinnacle of humanity in all respects; Among these great virtues is his good manners towards children, so that there is an ideal for all. Normally no one can reach this stage. Every Muslim should follow and imitate his ideals as much as possible. This includes caressing and joking with the children of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). Some of these are briefly illustrated below:

His friendly demeanor with children

Jabir b. Samura reported: I prayed along with Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) the first prayer. He then went to his family and I also went along with him when he met some children (on the way). He began to pat the cheeks of each one of them. He also patted my cheek and I experienced a coolness or a fragrance of his hand as if it had been brought out from the scent bag of a perfumer. (Sahih Muslim 2329)

His love for Osama

Narrated Usama bin Zaid: Allah’s Apostle used to put me on (one of) his thighs and put Al-Hasan bin `Ali on his other thigh, and then embrace us and say, O Allah! Please be Merciful to them, as I am merciful to them. (Sahih Al-Bukhari 6003)

In another narration, ‘ O Allah! I love them so love them too. ‘[Bukhari, Hadith No. 3735]

His joke with Mahmud ibn Rabi

Mahmud Ra. Said, I am about to sprinkle water from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) once; ‘ He sprinkled water from the bucket on my face when I was five years old which I still remember. “
(Sahih Bukhari  77, Sahih Muslim 456/1)

He did it as a joke or as a blessing, as he did with the children of the disciples. Shaykh Ibn Baz narrated. “It’s included in the chapter on humor and good character,” he said.

Sample of his affectionate dealings with Hassan-Hussein

1.Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) kissed Al-Hasan bin `Ali while Al-Aqra’ bin H`Abis at-Tamim was sitting beside him. Al-Aqra said, “I have ten children and I have never kissed anyone of them,” Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) cast a look at him and said, “Whoever is not merciful to others will not be treated mercifully.(Sahih Al-Bukhari 5997)

2.Narrated `Aisha: A bedouin came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and said, “You (people) kiss the boys! We don’t kiss them.” The Prophet said, “I cannot put mercy in your heart after Allah has taken it away from it.(Sahih Al-Bukhari 5998)

3. Hassan and Hussein. Was the most beloved of the Prophet. In this regard, Narrated Ibn Abi Na’m said, I heard the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, say about them, ‘ I have heard the Prophet (ﷺ) saying, “They (Hasan and Husain) are my two sweet-smelling flowers in this world.”(Sahih Al-Bukhari 5994)

That is, Allah has given me them and honored them with them. The children are kissed and sniffed. In this case, they have been compared to fragrant flowers.

4.Narrated Abu Bakra: I heard the Prophet (ﷺ) talking at the pulpit while Al-Hasan was sitting beside him, and he (i.e. the Prophet ) was once looking at the people and at another time Al-Hasan, and saying, “This son of mine is a Saiyid (i.e. chief) and perhaps Allah will bring about an agreement between two sects of the Muslims through him.” (Sahih Al-Bukhari 3746)

Later, Allaah sent Mu’awiyah (may Allaah be pleased with him) and his companions and ‘Ali ibn Abi Taleb with him. Reconciled between its followers and his companions. Therefore, he left the caliphate for Mu’awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him). As a result, Allah protects the blood of Muslims through him.

5.Narrated Al-Bara: I saw the Prophet (ﷺ) carrying Al-Hasan on his shoulder and saying, “O Allah! I love him, so please love him.”(Sahih Al-Bukhari 3749)

The child climbs on the back of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) while prostrating

Shaddad Ra. Narrated from, he said, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) came out of the house to offer the Maghrib or Isha prayer. He was carrying Hassan or Hussein. Then he went to the front and placed her. Then he did a long prostration in prayer. My father said, ‘I lifted my head and saw a child on the shoulder of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) while prostrating. I returned to my prostration. When the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) finished the prayer, the people said, ‘O Messenger of Allaah! Surely you have done a long prostration in the prayer, which is why we thought maybe something has happened or revelation is coming to you. ‘ He said, ‘ None of this happened. However one of my children climbed on my back, so I disliked to rush without meeting his needs. (Nasai 1141, Ahmad 493/3)

Zaynab while praying. Picking up his daughter

Narrated Abu Qatada Al-Ansari: Allah Messenger (ﷺ) was praying and he was carrying Umama the daughters of Zainab, the daughter of Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) and she was the daughter of ‘As bin Rabi`a bin `Abd Shams. When he prostrated, he put her down and when he stood, he carried her (on his neck). (Sahih Al-Bukhari 516)

Shorten his prayers while the children are crying

He would shorten the prayer when he heard the sound of a baby crying. Narrated `Abdullah bin ‘Abi Qatada: My father said, “The Prophet (ﷺ) said, ‘When I stand for prayer, I intend to prolong it but on hearing the cries of a child, I cut it short, as I dislike to trouble the child’s mother.’ “ (Sahih Al-Bukhari: 707)

Humorous jokes with Umm Khaled

Narrated Um Khalid:(the daughter of Khalid bin Sa`id) I went to Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) with my father and I was Nearing a yellow shirt. Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said, “Sanah, Sanah!” (`Abdullah, the narrator, said that ‘Sanah’ meant ‘good’ in the Ethiopian language). I then started playing with the seal of Prophethood (in between the Prophet’s shoulders) and my father rebuked me harshly for that. Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said. “Leave her,” and then Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) (invoked Allah to grant me a long life) by saying (thrice), “Wear this dress till it is worn out and then wear it till it is worn out, and then wear it till it is worn out.” (The narrator adds, “It is said that she lived for a long period, wearing that (yellow) dress till its color became dark because of long wear.”)(Sahih Al-Bukhari 3071)

That is, the narrator explained his long life. Many have said that no one else has lived so long as Umm Khaled.

His joke with Abu Umayr

Narrated Anas: The Prophet (ﷺ) was the best of all the people in character. I had a brother called Abu `Umar, who, I think, had been newly weaned. Whenever he (that child) was brought to the Prophet (ﷺ) the Prophet (ﷺ) used to say, “O Abu `Umar! What did Al-Nughair (nightingale) (do)?” It was a nightingale with which he used to play. Sometimes the time of the Prayer became due while he (the Prophet) was in our house. He would order that the carpet underneath him be swept and sprayed with water, and then he would stand up (for the prayer) and we would line up behind him, and he would lead us in prayer. (Sahih Al-Bukhari: 6203)

Greetings to the children

Anas ibn Malik. It is narrated that he used to greet the children as they passed by and say, ‘This is what the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to do. (Sahih Al-Bukhari 6247)

The urine of children in the lap of the Prophet

It is narrated on the authority of Umm Qays bint Mihsan that she came to the court of the Prophet with her infant. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) placed him on his lap and he urinated on his lap. Then he asked her to fetch water and sprinkled water and did not wash it. (Sahih Al-Bukhari 223)

In addition, there are many other fields by which the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) describes the good behavior and good manners of children. We should move away from the physical abuse of students and children in various places, including educational institutions, and follow the teachings of the Prophet.

Giving priority to children over adults

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) gave the baby boy on his right side a drink before the adults. It is narrated on the authority of Sahl ibn Sa’d that he said, ‘A cup of sherbet was brought to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). He drank from it, and to his right was one of the youngest boys in the group, and the adults were to his left. So the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, ‘ O son, will you allow me to give it to the elders? The boy said, ‘ O Messenger of Allah! I will not let anyone else dominate me in gaining your favor. So the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) gave it to him. (Sahih Al-Bukhari 2351)

In another narration, he said to the boy, ‘Will you allow me to give them?’ The boy said, ‘No. By God! O Messenger of Allah! I will not give priority to anyone else to gain anything from you. The narrator said, “Then the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, placed it in his hand.”
